IT'S ALIVE! A NEW BLOG POST!

Well, it was indeed time for an update, wasn't it?
I'll start by saying that we're looking at a very promising 2012. We've spent much of 2011 writing new songs, and adapting to our new-ish 3-piece lineup. What this means is that half the songs have Mickey on guitar with Frank on bass, and for the other half they switch it up. It's been working remarkably well, and it allows for a more streamlined songwriting process.
We currently have 16 new songs that we're happy with (we'll never mind the other ones for your sake), and we intend to go into a studio soon to record what will be our 2nd full length album. The 16 songs won't all make the cut due to stylistic differences between some of them (we have a surf song, a song about a dead oil baron, garage rock, slow songs, and one I particularily like called "I Don't, Bitch" – we do not endorse logic, it seems). We really want to make a tight, linear record that flows front to back in the vein of The Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros… juuuuust kidding. We're not artists, people, we just like to drink beer and play rock and roll. Naked, with whipped cream.
We recently started to realize that a lot of the songs could be complemented by a 2nd guitar, which is why we're activally looking for a new bassist. If you know anyone or you're interested yourself, just email us at band@thehotshowers.com!
Because of this, it's been a slow season for shows, but the 2nd half of 2012 should have our beautiful faces showing up in many a different city. We also recently relocated our jam space, and it's awesome!
So with that, we should have more news soon, and once we hit the studio, we'll have plenty of pics for ya.

NEW NEWS!

Hello there!
Though we haven't posted many updates, we've been keeping busy!
We currently are working on over 15 new songs for a new EP, followed by the 2nd album, which we're hoping for a Spring 2012 release. We'll soon be doing some pre-production on them, and are looking into which studio to record in. It'll be a completely different process than with Memories Of Melodies, and we're really looking forward to it.
If you haven't heard yet, our 2nd annual Movember show is announced. It will take place Saturday December 3 at Pub St-Ciboire in Montreal, with The Ravens joining us. The day before, on dec. 2nd, we'll be playing with The Midnite Lovers in Trois-Riviere for the new EP release party. Should be a very healthy weekend.
Oh, and we're buying a shooter to the 3 people with the most awesome Mo's on December 3, so make sure you let that beautiful 'stache grow for a good cause and some potential free booze!
Another project worth mentioning is a few months ago, one of our shows was filmed and recorded live for an upcoming Music 4 Cancer DVD. It should hit the shelves also around Spring 2012, and we're really looking forward to it!
It's been a hell of a year for us, and we're looking forward to ending it on a high note, with a lot coming up in the next year.

NEW NEWS AND OLD NEWS

Well, well.
If you guys didn't know already, we are now a 3-piece. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE HAVE 25% LESS INSPIRATION!!! What? Nobody thought it did? Anyway. We are arguably working on the greatest string of future releases that mankind will ever see:
- First up, "Songs for a Musical".
Our talented friends Alex Rose (see side pic) and Louis Lazaris (check out his video clip for our friends from Tyger Tyger) are currently working on a short film for the CBC, that they are writing and directing. Said movie, turns out to be a musical, for which yours truly is musically directing-ing, and for which the band as just recorded 3 songs at Studio 8. Huzzah!
- Secondly, we are planning the recording and subsequent release of a new EP that will showcase a more playful aspect of the band (I also don't know what that means). Will probably see the light this fall, maybe sooner.
- And finally, we are currently culling tracks for our new album. So far, only our "Rihanna's What's my Name" cover has made the cut.
Oh, and for some thing or other, expect vinyl. Goodbye!

Wow. Amazingly bad pun, but an amazingly cool city. Returning to the place of his birth to sonically destroy all traces of his existence, Frank almost achieve the impossible. If it hadn't been for those meddling kids.... with their rockin' spirits! We gotta give thanks to The Brains for their jovial spirits and gloomy ghouly goodness and O'Callaghan's for an awesome night! It's seems that everytime we go out of town we come back re-energized. I think this means that we should play outside of Montreal more often.
Then it's up to you "fans" (or fan), point us in the right direction, request a gig in your region (except your nether regions) and we'll come a rocking!

So thanks to everyone who came out on Sunday night to see us with Die, The FabHabs and The Autumn! It was a really fun show for us to play, we kept the set short and I think we gave it as much energy as was possible without bringing about premature heart failure! Of note, special thanks to The Autumn for getting the whole thing together, to the sound dude for giving us really good sound and to the boys of FabHabs who are just plain awesome and whom we look forward to sharing the stage with again in a couple weeks (August 21st at Quai des Brumes)!

Hot Showers, fresh from their Mtl launch, are heading to Toronto!
Sorry for the lag in news on the website as of late, we've been using that social networking machine a few of you may have heard of -Facebook- for most of our updates recently, but we don't want to ignore the good old World Wide Web! So since last we spoke, we had an awesome launch party for our first full-length album "Memories of Melodies" at Petit Campus (last Saturday, July 3rd). We got to see quite a few familiar faces, and some not so familiar, but to everyone that came out and made the event so much fun: Thank you!
So our album is officially available in the Montreal region and as we tour the Nation, we'll be revealing it city by city to all our Showerheads out there! Toronto's up next and as the heading says we're going to be rocking The Central in downtown Toronto tomorrow night with our friends Actor's and Architects (whom you might have seen play with us earlier this year at L'Absynthe)
In other news, we finally got off our asses and printed up some really sweet looking T-shirts and classy pins, so if you're interested in anything, just send us an email and we'll get your swag or CDs to you, rain or shine anywhere on island (Chris really wants to get some serious biking done this summer, so abuse him and get it delivered to the most complicated place you can imagine - have an aunt that lives in Kirkland? Perfect time to send her a gift!)

HOT SHOWERS SET TO RELEASE 1ST FULL LENGTH ALBUM,
"MEMORIES OF MELODIES" JULY 3RD 2010

We're pleased to finally announce that after years of writing, playing shows and recording, we're releasing our very first album! It's been a long road, but if the rough mixes are any indication, this is going to totally blow away whatever expectations we had set for ourselves when we first started recording this!!
We're not sure yet on the final tracklist, but the album will host 13 or 14 songs, and will be available on CD as well as various online music stores on high quality MP3.
To celebrate this long-awaited first release (or at the very least, long awaited by us), we'll be throwing a show right here in Montreal, at Petit Campus on July 3rd. It's a pretty straightforward deal: 10$ to get in, and you walk out with the CD in hand, all included in the price of the ticket. We'll have more details soon.
We hope to see you there, and we're super-excited to finally be releasing this! Stay tuned for more news soon.

We can't believe it.
By some miracle, we're opening up for UK's own incredible singer/songwriter, Frank Turner. We can't tell you how much we're fans of his music, this is an amazing opportunity, and is going to be an incredible night.
The show is January 28, at Chez Baptiste on Masson (3014 Rue Masson). This is so exciting, in fact, that I bought a Hulkamania vest for the event!
To celebrate the show, besides seeing me in fashion, we're giving away the Bunny Hugs EP on CD for free at the show!
If you can make, come check this out!!!!!! Also, Frank Turner is a really cool dude. I just wanted to put it out there.
